Sargent Ready for National Formula Ford Test

Tom Sargent will have the chance to test himself against the best Formula Ford drivers in the country, when he takes to the track for his next race meeting in the junior development category at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park this weekend.

This weekend’s second round of the NSW Formula Ford Championship doubles as the third round of the Australian Championship, meaning Sargent will be part of a massive 36-car field consisting of drivers from all over the country and even a couple from New Zealand.

Despite the high level of competition, Sargent is not daunted.

“Wakefield Park is a good place to have my first national Formula Ford round, because it’s a track where I’ve done a test day, and where I’m comfortable,” Sargent said.

“There are some exceptional drivers in the field, and I’m looking forward to seeing how I compare against them.

“We tested recently and made some big improvements to both the car and my driving technique, so hopefully we can race competitively against the national competitors.”

One advantage for Sargent will be the presence of a team-mate, with his CHE Racing team also running Lachlan Mineeff in the series.

“Lachlan is running the full national series, so it’s the first time he and I have done a race meeting together,” Sargent said.

“It will be really good having two cars in the CHE Racing stable, because we can compare data and setup info, and work together to make both cars faster.”

This weekend’s Formula Ford round will be live streamed online by Blend Line TV.
