Lachlan Mineeff’s sights are set on securing a top-five result in his rookie Australian Formula Ford Championship season, which concludes with the seventh and final round at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
By virtue of his consistent performances throughout the year, Mineeff is currently sixth in the standings, 14 points behind the fifth-placed driver. The western Sydney circuit is one where Mineeff has plenty of knowledge, having completed many laps at the venue in both testing and racing.
“I’ve had to learn a lot of new tracks this year, so it’s nice to finish at a track that I already know,” Mineeff said.
“Last year, I raced at Sydney Motorsport Park a few times when I was competing in the NSW State Championship, and one of those rounds was combined with the national series where I managed to qualify third outright, so it’s been a happy hunting ground for me.
“I really enjoy the track – it has a good mixture of high-speed corners and some slower technical sections. There are plenty of overtaking opportunities, so the racing should be entertaining.”
This weekend’s Formula Ford races will be held as part of the Australian Motor Racing Series race meeting. As well as live online streaming of Sunday’s action, the program also includes the Stadium SUPER Trucks, which are expected to attract a healthy audience to the venue.
“The trucks will be a big drawcard, so hopefully there’s a good crowd and we can put on a show for them in the Formula Ford races.
“We’ve been lucky enough to race at some high-profile events this season, and this will be a great way to finish off the year,” Mineeff concluded.
