Lighting Up 2019 With Purple Sectors

Lachlan Mineeff has unveiled a striking new paint scheme on his race car ahead of this weekend’s opening round of the 2019 Australian Formula Ford Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Mineeff’s CHE Racing Formula Ford will be sponsored by soon-to-be released website Purple Sector, branded in reference to the colour displayed on a timing computer when a driver records the fastest time for a sector on a racing circuit.

The website is set to be a hub for people looking to become involved or already involved in motorsport. It will have details on race cars and equipment for sale, upcoming events and more.

The 16-year-old Oxley College student hopes the new sponsor will be a good omen for his on-track performances.

“All motorsport fans know purple means fast, and I hope to be setting plenty of purple sector times throughout the season!” Mineeff said.

“A huge thanks goes to Granger Design and PXLSRS for their help coming up with this wicked livery, it will sure stand out on track.”

Mineeff tested his Formula Ford at Wakefield Park last week, and said he is enthusiastic but not over-confident about the upcoming season.

“The test day went well, we spent the day fine-tuning aspects of my driving technique along with the car setup,” Mineeff said.

“Last year, I recorded consistent top-10 finishes but this season, my aim needs to be regular podium finishes and challenging for race wins.

“Some of the top runners from last year’s series have moved on, but there are also some new drivers coming into the category, who have done very well in go-karts. I’m expecting the standard of competition to be just as high as last year.”

The Sydney Motorsport Park Formula Ford round will consist of qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, followed by Races 2 and 3 on Sunday.
